Suggested Long Day Walk Equipment |
| This list of equipment is intended to help a walker equip for a long
day bush walk within a 250 km radius of Sydney and be prepared if caught
out late or overnight. 'One can be inconvenienced or inconvenienced and uncomfortable'. For more information call 4628 2528 or email: Personal items1. Hat (preferably with broad brim). 2. Walking shoes / boots with a good gripping soles and comfortable clothing. 3. Socks which are wool or composite materials are advisable, not cotton (retains perspiration and can cause blisters). 4. 7. Toilet paper and small hand trowel or spade (approx $3). 8. Swimmers and towel. 9. Warm jumper or jacket. 10. Spare change of clothing for foul weather to reduce the possibility of hypothermia if one gets wet. 11. Wet weather clothing ie jacket, over trousers or poncho. 12. Personal equipment: such as camera, binoculars etc. 13. Note pad and pencil. 14. Spare boot laces. 15. String. 16. Map and Compass (also carried by walk leader) optional. 17. Matches or fire lighters. 18. Knife. 19. Gloves for scrambling (gardening gloves will do). 20. Torch and spare batteries. 21. Gaiters if not wearing long trousers (dependant on terrain). This may seem a lot of equipment but
it can make life easier and more comfortable if caught out overnight..
