Old Ford Road - Georges River - Kentlyn - Campbelltown - Macarthur |
Bushwalk - Georges River National Park - 9 Aug 09This series of photographs is taken 1.5 km from the car park area at the end of Georges River Road Kentlyn. The Old Ford Road was constructed as an unemployment project between 1888 and 1891. Georges River has been important to Campbelltown since since it was developed in the early 1800's but even before that it was a place of importance to the Dharawal people.* Georges River still is important as a tourist attraction. Locals are familiar with names like Freres Crossing, Wedderburn Gorge, The Woolwash and The Basin to name a few. Many newcomers to the area are not aware of the attractions of visiting Georges River. Some are not aware that Georges River flows along the eastern side of Campbelltown forming a barrier between the City of Campbelltown and the army firing ranges. The pages and galleries of this website hopefully will address that issue and will entice you into visiting Georges River |
