Kayaking Tour Brisbane Waters - Xterra Adventures

The weather on this day was superb with a gentle breeze and a warm day perfect for being out on the water.

Xterra Kayak Adventures - Kayaking courses and touring - of Erina organised the day by supplying the sea kayaks, safety vests, equipment, morning tea and a BBQ for lunch. Glenn of Xterra runs these tours on a regular basis and in many locations including Yengo - Dharug - Popran - Brisbane Water - Ku ring gai - Myall lakes - Marramarra - Bouddi - Lake Macquarie SCA  national parks.

Xterra Adventures also run mountain bike tours through many of these parks too - visit Xterra MTB Tours.

We set off from the Gosford Sailing Club at approximately 9.20 am and arrived back at 5.20 pm after having refreshments in one location followed by a rump steak / salad BBQ on a secluded beach at another location. It's amazing waht one can carry in a kayak.

At one point we were crossing the shallows with us pushing ourselves along using our hands on the sandy bottom.

It was noticeable how power boats catered for kayakers by giving us plenty of space. At one point we waited adjacent to a yacht race with the wind creating choppy waes across the bay.

We both found new muscle groups which ached even before we had vacated the kayak.

On the agenda now we have trips to Brisbane waters to try out the single seat kayaks and then a kayaking course.

This16 kilometre tour around Brisbane Waters was a perfect way to see if spinal injuries would eliminate kayaking from my outdoor activities, it doesn't.

Eight hours in a kayak certainly tests ones physical abilities. The outcome is we are now pricing kayaks and equipment for regular trips.

Fantastic day out - kayaking is for me!
